Town Unanimously Approves Planning for Pine Forest Plantation Phase I Construction

Healthy and Active Living Senior Community Approved by The Town of Oak Island, NC

Oak Island, NC, April 20th, 2016 – With no public opposition expressed during a regular monthly meeting, the town council unanimously approved a conditional use permit for Pine Forest Plantation, a retirement and mixed-use residential community.

Now that Pine Forest Plantation has been given the green light, developers are moving quickly to begin work on the initial phase of this planned unit development for the Active Living Retirement  community on the NC coast.

A planned unit development (PUD), like the one approved, is a type of building development and regulatory process for a designed group of compatible land uses. These may include compatible uses such as housing, recreation, commercial centers, and industrial parks within a restrained subdivision or development area.

The first phase of construction for this planned unit development will offer an assortment of medical services that are not currently available in the surrounding communities. The plans include a medical campus, mixed use retail shopping and dining, residential living, and continued care facility expecting 150+ unit assisted living facility along with memory care, and independent-living units along with other amenities for residents.
