The reception held at the Holiday Inn Express had an unexpectedly large turnout. In the crowded room, additional seating was brought in only to be exceeded as attendance continued to grow. One of the development team members, Gene Vaughan, commented on the needs facing the attentive audience as they plan their lives and the care needed later in life. He explained there are packages being diligently planned and assembled alongside the timeline of construction which will define unique housing and care options for the future residents including affordable entry fees, accessible housing options, and the applauded a la carte method of payment for in-home care services. The development has much to offer adults of any age within the active lifestyle community. With health and wellness a focal point, the development will feature advanced options and quality care services to future residents from the design of the neighborhoods and housing, to specific needs based healthcare options in effort to extend independent living of its residents. The developers are dedicated to providing quality, personalized care services that will extend and enhance the quality of life for those in the community, and lessen the burden on the family members who may also reside here as well, or even hundreds of miles away.

The community’s goal is to provide peace of mind to these family members knowing their loved ones have access to the care they need. Housing options for single family homes are anticipated to start around $200,000 as detailed by another developer and investment partner, Tommy Sofield. With a mix of quality affordable housing, townhomes, large estate homes, and apartments planned for future development, the community will be accessible to locals and will also attract those looking to move to the coastal Carolina’s with many amenities at their fingertips.

The timeline for Pine Forest Plantation is guided by a sustainable growth plan completed in stages, as the start of a 50 acre health care campus is only part of the first stage. Mixed Use Retail and Commercial development is planned along with the future houses, town-homes, condominiums, assisted living, and skilled nursing facilities. Each stage will bring a large boon to the community and local economy, and the officials of Brunswick County, the Town of Oak Island, and Southport are eager to cooperate with the development team to ensure the project’s success.

For Novant Health, physicians are already adjusting with preparations to move in as soon as the medical offices are finished later next year. Shelbourn Stevens, president of Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center, said “This building is going to allow us to make healthcare more accessible to the community, includingthe towns of Oak Island and Southport.  It just makes sense that we’re here breaking ground on a new building to provide access to quality healthcare for the growing population here in Brunswick County.”

Housing options were projected to be a few years away with pre-sales and reservation packages to be announced at a later date. The community has the potential of over 2,000 residential living units and even more people living and working inside the community in the coming decades. Being welcomed with open arms, it seems that the community is welcoming Pine Forest Plantation with open arms and there is a demand for the mix of options, care, and amenities the development will offer in the area.
